Schedule Change Timeline

Scranton Middle School Schedule Adjustments

Our goal at Scranton Middle School is to provide a variety of academic and elective class opportunities to our students, and to accommodate their class choices to the greatest extent possible. As you might imagine, the scheduling process in a school of over 1000 students is complicated, and whether or not a student ends up with his or her first choice in classes depends on several variables – conflicts with other classes the same hour, for example.

Unfortunately, we will not be able to accommodate all requests for schedule changes, but will address all requests as completely as possible. Some schedule changes have a greater priority than others, so any requests will be addressed as follows:

Counselors are not able to complete the following requests: specific teacher requests, requests to have classes with friends, requests to have lunch with friends, or requests for a specific lunch.

August Registration-BEFORE the 1st day of school:

  • Student schedules with MISSING and/or DUPLICATE CLASSES will be addressed as well as those students missing core required classes. This will ensure students have a complete schedule on the first day of school.
  • Requested changes to elective classes for the first semester will only be addressed. Please understand the likelihood of our being able to make preferential elective class changes will be small.
  • Please click Here to request a schedule change. Link active from date of registration until the Friday before Labor Day. No schedule changes will be made as of the 1st day of the semester.

January Schedule Hand Out-January 18th:

  • Student schedules with MISSING and/or DUPLICATE CLASSES will be addressed as well as those students missing core required classes.
  • Requested changes to elective classes can be made HERE Please understand the likelihood of our being able to make preferential elective class changes will be small. The link will be active till 1/24/25. No schedule changes will be made as of the 1st day of the semester.
